This unique necklace is secured with a hammered 24K yellow gold satin toggle clasp. Apatite is a 5 on the Mohs hardness scale. Like all fine jewelry, it should be treated with care. Apatite can be brittle. It is often mistaken for other minerals. This tendency is reflected in the mineral's name, which is derived from the Greek word apatein, which means to deceive or to be misleading.
