The color range of Tourmaline
Most commonly found in majestic black color, tourmaline also comes in red, orange, pink, yellow, green, violet, blue, brown, and all hues in between. In addition, it can remarkably be bi-colored and tri-colored, and shifts between two different colors in dichroic form, under certain lighting conditions, or when viewed from different angles.

The history of Tourmaline
• In the 1500s, tourmaline was found by a Spanish merchant in Brazil, who mistakenly took it for emerald. The true identity of this gemstone was relieved in the 1800s when mineralogists declare it one of the mineral species. (Ref - https://www.gia.edu/tourmaline-history-lore)

• For centuries, Native Americans used certain colors of tourmaline as funeral gifts. But the gemstone gained its popularity in 1876 when George Kunz, a mineralogist, sold the green stone to Tiffany & Co.

• China was once one of the biggest markets of tourmaline. In 1912, when the Chinese government collapsed, it took the trade of this remarkable stone with it.

• In Brazil, tourmaline was discovered between the 1980s and 90s. The stone became popular in Paraiba because of radiant blues, vivid violets, and striking neon green colors. Also, this region is marked for the world’s finest and most valuable tourmaline specimens.
